A QR code hides where it goes, which is exactly why they get used for fraud. Read the address above before opening it — especially on codes stuck over other codes on parking meters, payment terminals or restaurant tables.
How it works
Most online scanners upload your image. This one doesn't need to — browsers can decode a QR code themselves.
Your browser asks permission first. On a phone it picks the rear camera, which is the one you'll be pointing at the code.
Frames are read straight from the video stream by your browser's own barcode decoder, ten times a second. No frame is sent anywhere.
The contents appear as text. Only http and https addresses get a clickable link — anything else is shown as plain text on purpose.
Making codes
PixelQode generates branded QR codes you can repoint after printing, plus static codes that never expire.
A dynamic code encodes a short link that we resolve, so you can change the destination after printing and we can count scans. A static code encodes the destination itself: nothing to redirect, so it can never be changed and there is nothing to count — but it works forever, with no dependency on any service. You choose per code, and static codes don't count against your plan.
Static codes keep working — they don't rely on us at all. Dynamic codes resolve through a short link, so they need an active plan. If you're printing something permanent and don't need tracking, make it static.
Yes, for dynamic codes. Edit the destination and every existing print starts pointing at the new address immediately. The image doesn't change, so nothing needs reprinting.
